Women In Network Marketing & Direct Sales
Women make up 78% of Network Marketers worldwide and yet, women are often torn down with harsh words telling them that they cannot do it, they will never succeed, or they can’t be leaders.
More women than ever are starting businesses from home. Women want more time, more freedom, more income, more flexibility, more opportunities to make a difference, and more quality of life than what they’ve experienced in the “regular 9-5” world and because of the uncertainty of the job market and economy and with the availability of Social Media Marketing right from home, there has never been a better time to step into entrepreneurship and take control.
Although there are amazing opportunities available to women, they do face some unique challenges when building a business from home. Their responsibilities with kids, family, or job require more demands on their time plus they also have a different ways of selling and recruiting than men.
Unfortunately, “traditional training” in the network marketing profession is not addressing these unique needs (in most cases it’s created and led by MEN), leaving many women struggling to adapt to the “masculine business model” that doesn’t quite fit.
Another reason why network marketing is so popular with women is that women are very good at it and many women are seeing huge financial rewards for only working a few hours per week. There are several reasons why so many women are in direct selling and why they excel in it over their male counterparts.
# 1 Women are renowned for their multi-tasking and men are not. This is a great quality and strength to have in the Network Marketing Profession. Women need to be good at multi-tasking as they are primarily responsible for the smooth running and functioning of their household first and foremost, then business comes second.
# 2 According to an article in Forbes, women make better leaders because they have strengths in communication, empathy, clearer vision, a better perspective and a mature approach and being able to think long-term.
# 3 Women are naturally social and network marketing is very much a people’s business. Most women just love to be sociable and are good in this type of business. Most women cannot believe that they are getting paid to have parties and socialize with other women over a coffee or a glass of wine.
# 4 Women are a lot more open than men. They share their thoughts as well as the information being presented. Women tend to ‘think out loud’ which gets the task or opportunity in hand discussed and dissected at deeper levels.
# 5 Most women have a natural non-intimating approach to communicating and sharing information with others. Women try to ‘be-friend’ new people first before they approach new distributors to join their team. Unfortunately some men just can’t help their testosterone getting in the way of being a leader and this can lead to an intimidating approach, which is not how you win and influence people to join your team.
# 6 Motivation is everything in self-employment and is equally as important in direct selling.
For women, motivation to succeed includes: not wanting to go out of the home to make money, they are naturally wanting self-improvement and personal development, They want to show men that they too can be successful, and they are willing to learn which is unlike most men that cannot help but be ‘in competition’ with each other.
# 7 Women have the ability to learn new things quickly and most women don’t claim that they already know everything and don’t have an egotistical attitude, which is a great trait to have in network marketing as you can grow your businesses at a faster level. With the right kind of motivation coupled with the willingness and eagerness to learn are why the majority of women are successful in multi level marketing.
Whether you are a stay home mom or just want to socialize and become self-employed; the Network Marketing Industry is becoming an attractive way to go for women today.
